Novafonic Quartet
The Novafonic Quartet is an ensemble composed of four exceptional musicians, including soloists and section leaders of important orchestras: Fabio Furia (bandoneon), Gianmaria Melis (violin), Marcello Melis (piano), and Giovanni Chiaramonte (bass). Four instruments, four voices and a common vision that looks to the contemporary nature of music, and seeks comparison and interaction between genres and styles. It is an artistic project that proposes a new musical and polyphonic language, firmly based on the precision of classical compositional forms, but at the same time looking to the future through new musical ideas.
Their repertoire, which is as innovative as it is compelling, represents a musical journey that combines precision and technical virtuosity with a taste for experimentation. It is an interaction of strong jazz influence and tango nuevo.
The result is a dialogue between instruments in a key that is both current and absolutely contemporary, along with original, new compositions of some of the masterpieces of music on the international scene, which have been reinterpreted with artistic sensibility and great freedom of invention.
The Novafonic Quartet has performed, and continues to perform, in major concert halls and theatres throughout Italy and the world.
An intense and exciting program that blends the classical and contemporary, tradition and innovation, in an absolutely original stylistic interaction, in which technical virtuosity is fused together with jazz improvisation.
The rhythm, passion and energy of Astor Piazzolla’s tango nuevo meet some of the best-known songs of the classical music tradition, which have been re-presented in a modern and innovative key through original arrangements for this ensemble, progressively moving towards more contemporary compositions (J . Brel, A. Schwarz, F. Furia).
The result is a completely new sound, which combines the strength and balance of this form with more classical tastes. It is the forward thrust and daring, avant-garde musical ideas that extend across genres through these different influences.
