KAN YUET, harp
16-year-old Hong Kong harpist Kan Yuet Hebe has obtained her FTCL Diploma (Fellow of Trinity College London for harp recital) and was awarded with distinction for LTCL (Licentiate of Trinity College London) at the age of 11. She started her harp journey when she was 4 years old and began to show great musical talent early on. At the age of 5, she was chosen to perform at the 4th HK Harp Festival with the world-renowned Korean harpist Jung Kwak. In 2020, she gave her first solo harp recital at the Tsang Shiu Tim Art Hall, HK University of Science and Technology.
Hebe has won numerous international prizes since beginning her competition journey at the age of 8. Her major achievements include the 1st Prize at the Young Artist’s Harp Competition (New Artist Division) in the USA (2018), Premio Interpretazione Prize and 1st Prize in Harp Section at the Amigdala International Music Competition in Sicily (2018), 3rd Prizes at the 2018 & 2019 Osaka International Music Competition Senior Harp Section in Japan and the best performer award winner in the HK Region (2019).
Following her achievements, Hebe has had the privilege to perform at the Seoul Arts Centre alongside Maria Luisa Rayan and Jung Kwak in 2014. She had also been invited to perform at the first Taiwan Harp Festival, the Singapore Harp Festival Youth Showcase (2015) and the Asia Rising Star concert at the Asian Harp Festival in Korea (2016). In 2017, she performed at the 13th World Harp Congress and the HK Harp Talents concert at the 8th International Festival of Harp Suoni d’Arpa Saluzzo in Italy.
In 2016 & 2019, Hebe was honoured to be the first young artist representing HK to perform at the Stars of Tomorrow concert during the 10th & 11th USA International Harp Competition, which featured talented young harpists from around the world.
Since 2020, Hebe has competed in different online competitions worldwide and won various awards, including the 2nd Prize at the Young Artist’s Harp Competition (Emerging Artist Division, 2020), Grand Prix “Crown of Stars” (Best Instrumentalist) at Music and Stars Awards (2021) and World Top 50 Musicians Annual Ranking Number 2 at London Young Musician (2021-2022).
