Jou-Yu Shieh, a pianist from Taiwan, made a remarkable debut at the age of 12, performing J.S. Bach Piano Concerto in d minor with the Taitung Symphony Orchestra. Just three years later, she was invited to perform Grieg Piano Concerto in a minor with the Taitung Hsin-Sheng Symphony Orchestra. In 2023, she had the honor of interpreting Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg Symphony Orchestra at the Musiksaal der Kongresshalle Nürnberg.

Her extraordinary talent has earned her numerous accolades on both national and international stages. Notable awards include the Grand Prix at the Music and Stars Awards and first prizes at the Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition, the Medici International Music Competition, the Nouvelles Etoiles International Music Competition, the G-Clef International Music Competition, and the International Mozart Competition Vienna, among others. She also achieved third place at the Windsor International Piano Competition. In 2021, she was selected as “New Taipei City Music Star”, and in 2024, she was honored as “Star of Tiding”, receiving invitations to perform solo recitals and deliver a lecture in Taiwan.

Her remarkable achievements have been complemented by performances at renowned venues throughout Germany, including Nürnberg, Bayreuth, Gladbeck, and Heidenheim, as well as in Salzburg, Austria, and Castelnuovo di Farfa, Italy. Her 2021 and 2024 Piano Recital tour took her to Taipei, Taichung, New Taipei City, Nantou, and Yilan. Her performances and reviews have been featured in prominent newspapers and magazines in Taiwan and Germany, including the United Daily News, The Liberty Times, Taiwan News, Wochenanzeiger Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen, Neue Gladbecker Zeitung, and Der Opernfreund.

She pursued her Bachelor’s degree at the Taipei National University of the Arts under the mentorship of Prof. Constance Lee, where she received the Academic Excellence Award. In 2019, she continued her studies with a Master’s degree at Mozarteum University Salzburg, under the guidance of Prof. Claudius Tanski. During her studies, she was awarded scholarships and was invited to contribute to the recording project “J.S. Bach: Die Kunst der Fuge.” She graduated with distinction in 2021.

In 2023, she completed the Meisterklasse Piano Degree at Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg, under the guidance of Prof. Wolfgang Manz, and was awarded the prestigious DAAD Music Scholarship. In 2024, she earned the Postgraduate Piano Degree at Mozarteum University Salzburg, studying with Prof. Jacques Rouvier.
