Dejan Sinadinovic
Deyan Sinadinovich is recognized internationally as one of Serbia’s most versatile and imaginative musicians and among today’s most engaging pianists in his country. He is in demand for a wide variety of chamber music alliances, as well as appearing on major international concert platforms in recitals and concerto performances with some of the world’s leading conductors. He has also directed several distinctive concert series and festivals.
Born in Belgrade, he studied with Arbo Valdma and Jasmina Gavrilovich at the Faculty of Music, University of Art in Belgrade and Eliso Virsaladze at the Tchaikowsky Conservatory in Moscow. He has been singled out for the top festival prize at the French Piano Institute Festival held in Paris on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Schola Cantorum – an achievement that gave him the opportunity to further concertize in Paris. Since then, he has become a familiar figure on the international concert platform, recognised for the intensity and originality of his interpretations. In addition to his busy career as a performer worldwide, he is professor at both the Faculty of Music, University of Art in Belgrade where he served as the Vice-Dean from 2002-2006 and the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade where he was the chairman of the music department from 1998 to 2006.
He enjoys associations with many orchestras and is a favored partner of many distinguished chamber musicians.
A particular interest in contemporary music has led to several world premieres. He is a remarkable exponent of Serbian piano music, reflected in his collaboration with many of the country leading artists at the International Review of Composers in Belgrade. In the capacity of artistic director and conductor of the New Moment Ensemble that joins best instrumentalists from Balkans he successfully worked as a pianist and conductor under the supervision of Michael Nyman on his chamber opera “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat” at the 2002 “Ideas-Campus” festival in Piran, Slovenia. After the Slovenian premiere of the Opera, Michael Nyman declared that was “the best performance of his music ever”. Later the same year, “New Moment Ensemble” performed this Opera at the prestigious BITEF festival in Belgrade.
Deyan Sinadinovich has been the artistic vision behind several festivals and concert series that he founded. ‘Piano Chamber Festival’ in 2005 (Belgrade), Emil Hayek Festival (Belgrade), and all five editions of the Spring Piano Feast (Belgrade) established his reputation as an astute programmer.
Current and future busy schedule takes him to a range of international festivals as a soloist and chamber musician – in the program that includes piano trios and quintets by Schostakovich, Schnittke and Brahms (Artis Quartet, Vienna). At the beginning of the season 2013 he will perform with the W. Lutosławski Philharmonic (Wroclav, Poland) and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma (Roma, Italy).
