ALIYA TURETAYEVA, piano
Aliya Turetayeva is one of the most promising and talented Kazakh pianists of her generation. She received her first piano lesson at the age of five and later moved to Europe to continue her musical studies. She graduated from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz, Cologne and from the prominent Mozarteum University, Salzburg under the tutelage of Professor Gililov. She has continued her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Belgium.
Aliya appeared at many festivals including the Ruhr Piano Festival, International Holland Music Sessions, Gstaad New Year Music Festival, Switzerland, Aurora Classic Festival, Sweden, Ars Haliaeti Festival, Slovenia, International Chamber Music Festival Stavanger, Norway, XIV Festival de Musica International Tenerife, Spain, PianoFest Sint-Niklaas, Belgium and has performed at major international venues such as the WDR Funkhaus Kleiner Sendesaal, St Martin-in-the-Fields/Pianists of the World Series London, Edvard Grieg Museum Troldhaugen, Centro Cultural de Belem Lisboa, Bruno Walter Auditorium at the Lincoln Center NY, Weill Recital Hall/Carnegie Hall New York, Elgar Room Royal Albert Hall London, Gesellschaft für Musiktheater Wien, Beethoven-Haus Bonn, Villa Medici Giulini, Hurumsalen Oslo, Arthur-Rubinstein-Saal Steinway Hall Munich and Kaisersaal Vienna, Austria.
Aliya is a prizewinner of the Feurich International Piano Competition in Vienna, the Concert Artists International in New York (2nd prize and Outstanding Performance Award) and the Verao Classico Festival in Lisbon, Portugal. Her other distinctions include winning the Brueser Berger Musikpreis 2018 in Bonn and an Honorable Mention Award at Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition in New York. As a recipient of the Steinway Hall Prize at the KIPC 2019 in Kent, Aliya made her Steinway Hall Debut in 2020 in London. Most recently the was invited to China Tour as a prizewinner of the Nordic Strings Academy International Music Competition in Denmark. She was also selected to perform at Isaac Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at the Carnegie Hall in New York in 2021. Last year she joined the piano faculty of the Internationale Akademie für Musik Cologne.
Aliya Turetayeva knew how to use the grand piano in all its facets, from an emotional one to a virtuoso one.
