Review: 5 stars for Yixiang Hou’s release of ‘Carnival’ inspired music (Pianist Magazine)

KNS Classical is thrilled to announce that Yixiang Hou’s album Carnival has received a glowing 5-star review in Pianist Magazine, penned by John Evans.

The review celebrates Yixiang Hou, KNS Classical Artist, for his captivating and cohesive program, featuring works by composers from Orlando Gibbons to Robert Schumann. Evans praises Hou’s sensitive and lyrical interpretation, highlighting his lush performance of Gibbons’ Pavan in G minor and his polished rendition of Alkan’s Le Festin d’Esope. Hou’s navigation of Schoenberg’s Drei Klavierstücke Op. 11 and his unhurried, expressive take on Scriabin’s Sonata No. 9 ‘Black Mass’ are also commended. The album closes with Schumann’s Carnaval, which Evans describes as a triumphant performance.
